As covered in Domain Name Wire among other places, late last year Congo’s ccTLD manager (SCPT) abruptly revoked the contract of CONIC, the company previously acting as registry operator. This left registrars with no way to registrar .cd domains nor service existing onces since August 2017. The entire .cd zone was frozen “as is.”
More recently, a notice has appeared on the website previously used for domain services, nic.cd, advising registrars to “contact (SCPT) by eMail (support AT nic.cd) to receive instructions on how to regain your Registrar access account.”
Toweb was not directly accredited at CONIC, but has since spoken with two registrars that did work directly with the .cd registry. Both tell the same story: Renewals are currently possible (registry confirms new expiry date) as are contact updates. However, the zone is not updated, so registrations and DNS updates are not yet possible.
We are monitoring this situation closely and are keen to arrive at a place where we can accept incoming transfers. If you have .cd domains and are not able to receive support during this period of transition, please feel free to raise a Ticket to see if Toweb may be able to provide assistance.
